Moving Tips and Insurance Information
-
Book a reserved date with the company as soon as you know what your moving day
is. And if you must change it, do it as soon as you know.
-
Do your part. We will do our job to the best of our abilities, and are
pretty good at going above the call of duty. But if the job is not prepared
correctly, the relocation will not go smoothly.
-
If you are packing the job yourself, be certain most of the packing is
complete by moving day. Unpacked items slow the job down and are either not
moved, or not insured.
-
Pack the boxes well. Place a thick layer of paper on the bottom and wrap
each individual piece in paper, then place paper on the top. Place stemware
and glasses right side up, not on their side. Remember, items packed by the
owner are not insured by the mover! (Check with your homeowners policy to
see if it provides coverage) A good packing job is important. Do not overload
boxes. We are glad to perform your packing or supply you with empty boxes,
but you must tell us in advance so that we can bring the required materials.
-
Arrange for someone to watch your pets or put them in a secure place.
We love animals, but they tend to cause delay if they roam around.
-
If you live in a building with an elevator, be sure to alert the building
management, so that arrangements can be made to accommodate the relocation
company.
-
If you have appliances that need servicing, like icemakers, washing machines
and gas dryers disconnected, please do this in advance.
-
If you take something apart that requires significant labor, you must
put it back together.
-
We move several tons of furniture a year, and any moving company would
be lying if they said things do not break. If something breaks, please alert
us as soon as possible so that we can make things right for you.
-
Finally, try to relax, moving is the third most stressful event in one's life.
